History of the WWSL
Located in Westchester County, New York, the Westchester Women's Soccer League ("WWSL") is an unincorporated association comprised of area women's soccer teams made up of women age 18 and over who love to play soccer! The WWSL was founded in 2002 by three women who had previously enjoyed soccer and decided to start their own teams and form a league. These women started grass roots efforts to promote soccer and attract players by word-of-mouth and through posting informal posters in their respective communities. The response was fantastic and the WWSL was born!
WWSL Today
The WWSL continues its expansion today and is currently comprised of 6 outdoor teams scheduled for play each fall (September - November) and spring (April - June) and 9 indoor teams scheduled for play each winter (December - April). Participants in the WWSL enjoy playing competitive indoor and outdoor soccer in Westchester County, New York and also occasionally play in tournaments. WWSL players range in age from 18 on up to twenty-, thirty-, forty-, and even some fifty-somethings. Likewise, players range in ability from novice players to college-level soccer players. Each team has at least one Team Captain. The Team Captains, along with other members of the team all pitch in to organize rosters, insurance, uniforms and field space. Play is competitive and fun with an emphasis on camaraderie and sportsmanship. Each season culminates in a league-wide get together to facilitate development of that camaraderie and sportsmanship among all of the teams and their players.

The WWSL welcomes all friendly female soccer players age 18 and over and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation or any other prohibited basis. WWSL invites all individual players, already formed teams and newly forming teams to consider joining our league.
